In this charming tale a sprightly rabbit decides it’s time to run away, packing a tiny brown bag and hopping off down the lane. The wind and the sun chat with him as he bounds away, his mind full of imagined grand adventures and a longing to visit his grandparents. While the bunny dreams of freedom, Old Mother Bun watches from her window, hoping the little visitor will return.
When the bunny finally appears at his grandparents’ cottage, they greet him with open arms, fresh cookies, and a kitchen full of warmth. Eager to prove his worth, he scurries to the cellar, fetches a crisp cabbage, gathers wood and water, and even presents a nightcap and a pipe as gifts. Though his heart still flutters with the urge to wander, the story captures the gentle tug between curiosity and the comforting pull of home.
