Description

A desperate Pierre de la Motte escapes the relentless grip of creditors and the law, fleeing Paris under the cover of night. Accompanied by his grieving wife, Madame de la Motte, the couple embarks on a bleak journey toward an anonymous southern village, hoping the forest’s shadows will hide their shame. Their departure is marked by sorrowful good‑byes, lingering memories of a once‑splendid life, and the unsettling realization that fortune has abandoned them.

As they press deeper into the wilderness, Pierre’s restless spirit battles between lingering pride and a yearning for redemption. His mind, ever vivid and prone to impetuous schemes, wrestles with the consequences of past excesses while the forest presses in with both danger and the promise of anonymity. The narrative weaves lyrical reflections and occasional poetry, inviting listeners to share in the characters’ fragile hope and the haunting beauty of their exile.
