Description

In the mist‑laden streets of 1660 Quebec, the stone gables of Lower Town line a river that shimmers like a seam of glass. A solitary French ship drops its cargo at the bustling quay, drawing the curious eyes of merchants, soldiers, and the modest families who eke out lives beneath the shadow of Fort Saint‑Louis. Against this vivid tableau of fur traders, nuns, and distant mountains, the narrative weaves together history and romance, recalling the era of Champlain and Frontenac while hinting at the wild, untamed world beyond the city walls.

At the heart of the story stands Adam Dollard, a young seigneur whose reputation for courage precedes him. He gathers a small band of friends and loyalists, determined to confront the looming threat of Iroquois war parties that press ever closer to the settlement. Their resolve and the stark beauty of the Laurentian wilderness set the stage for a tale of honor, sacrifice, and the fierce spirit that would shape the legend of New France.
