Description

In a thick November fog that clings to London’s streets, a young cavalry captain lingers in a quiet hotel, his sun‑kissed complexion a sharp contrast to the soot‑gray city. A sealed envelope from the Colonial Office summons him to a confidential assignment, diverting him from a planned departure for India. The atmosphere is tense yet tinged with the promise of adventure as he steps into the bustling corridors of Whitehall, where a senior official entrusts him with heavy, sealed dispatches.

The orders send him westward, first to Aden and then to the remote Somali coastal town of Zaila, where a fragile garrison faces the looming threat of an attack from the Emir of Harar. Charged with delivering crucial instructions, the captain must navigate treacherous politics and an unforgiving landscape, all while the weight of his secret mission shapes his first steps into a world far beyond the foggy lanes of London.
