Description

Three spirited girls from the remote Rainbow Ranch find themselves thrust into the polished world of Primrose Hall, a prestigious boarding school perched on the Hudson River’s misty valleys. On their first night, Olive Ralston lies awake, haunted by loneliness and the distant cries of a friend confined to a New York hospital, while the ancient walls echo with strange whispers and the soft flutter of unseen wings. The narrative captures the clash of rugged frontier habits with the strict, genteel expectations of East Coast society.

As dawn finally spills over the river, the girls behold a landscape of golden asters and distant palisades, a beauty that both awes and alienates them. Their chaperone, Ruth Drew, balances duty to the girls with a desperate journey back to save Jack, while Miss Katherine Winthrop, the stern headmistress, watches their tentative steps into this new world. Through whispered prayers and quiet camaraderie, the girls begin to navigate friendships, secret doubts, and the mystery that lingers in the old hall’s corridors.
