At Putnam Hall Military Academy the days are filled with the clang of rifles and the roar of youthful rivalry. Jack Ruddy, the self‑appointed major, leads his friends Pepper, Dale, and a colorful cast of cadets as they trade jokes, plan target practice, and spar with the swaggering Reff Ritter. Their camaraderie turns every drill into a lively contest of wit and skill.

Lurking behind the fun, the school’s newest instructors—Josiah Crabtree and the stern Cuddle—impose draconian rules that choke the boys’ spirit.
