Description

A young lawyer, barely out of his twenties, is summoned by his influential father to deliver a delicate message at the remote Château d’Ionis in the summer of 1788. Though trained for the law, he longs for a more imaginative life and feels the weight of family expectations as he rides through mist‑shrouded woods toward the imposing Renaissance manor.

The castle’s grand halls and fragrant gardens impress him, but it is the enigmatic presence of the Ionis family that captures his attention. He meets the austere dowager and learns that the celebrated Madame d’Ionis, a striking young woman famed for her wit, is absent—yet rumors of a restless spirit, the titular Naiad, linger in the corridors. As night falls, the atmosphere grows charged with whispers of the past, hinting at a mystery that will test his reason and courage.
