The Motor Boys in the Army; or, Ned, Bob and Jerry as Volunteers

The story follows three inseparable friends—Ned, Bob, and Jerry—who grow up sharing jokes, soda pop, and a love of adventure in their hometown of Cresville. When the nation declares war, the boys feel a sudden call to duty and eagerly sign up as volunteers, convinced they can make a difference. Their banter and camaraderie carry them through the bustling streets to the enlistment office, where they encounter the excitement and nervousness of new recruits.

In basic training they quickly discover that soldier life is far tougher than any of their playground schemes. Under the watchful eye of a stern corporal, they learn the basics of rifles, bayonets, and discipline while still finding room for humor and loyalty. As they adapt to drills, camp life, and the looming prospect of deployment, the trio’s friendship is tested and strengthened, promising a series of spirited escapades on the road to becoming true soldiers.
