Description

After a fateful dice game, the five brothers of the Pandava line, accompanied by their steadfast wife Draupadi, are forced to leave Hastinapura and begin a twelve‑year exile in the wilderness. Their departure is mourned by the kingdom’s people, who cling to the hope that the noble princes will preserve righteousness even far from their throne. As they cross the Vardhamana gate, the epic narrator recalls their resolve, their weapons, and the loyalty of servants and allies who follow them into the unknown.

In the dense forests of ancient India, the exiled heroes confront hunger, hostile beasts, and the bitter sting of betrayal from their cousin Duryodhana, whose ambition casts a long shadow over their journey. Through dialogues with sages and wandering ascetics, the text explores the power of association, the importance of virtue, and the ways in which hardship can refine character. Listeners are invited to share the Pandavas’ trials, their moments of contemplation, and the timeless lessons that emerge from life lived among trees and trials.
