Description

The Macedonian campaign unfolds through the eyes of an Italian liaison officer who spent two years at the heart of the Allied headquarters in the Balkans. Drawing on personal diaries, official reports and rare photographs, the narrative weaves together daily movements, diplomatic skirmishes, and the harsh realities of life on the Salonica front. Maps and illustrations pepper the story, letting listeners picture the rugged hills, icy transports, and makeshift schools built by soldiers.

As the war drags on, the account reveals how the Italian expeditionary force cooperated with British, French and Serbian units while contending with supply shortages and difficult terrain. The author’s conversations with generals, officers and local civilians bring color to strategic decisions and the human side of trench warfare. Listeners gain a clearer sense of a forgotten theater of World War I, where courage and cooperation shaped a fragile peace.
