THE LUCKLESS TRAPPER;

Description

A lone trapper stalks the moon‑lit banks of a remote stream, his seasoned instincts on high alert after a strange hiss‑like crack of a rifle passes inches from his head. The night air feels charged, every rustle in the brush suggesting an unseen threat, and his breath comes in short, wary bursts as he pushes through the foliage. The forest seems to hold its breath, the only sound the distant murmur of water and the trapper’s own muttered frustrations at the invisible shooter.

Across the water, two men stand illuminated by pale light, rifles at the ready, exchanging a tense, cryptic dialogue about missed shots and hidden enemies. Their silhouettes hint at a rivalry rooted in a hunt for a particular figure who roams the Back Load Trail, a figure whose fate may soon be sealed by the guns they bear. As the conversation unfolds, the trapper realizes he has stumbled upon a dangerous game of mistaken identity and looming violence, leaving him to decide whether to stay hidden or become part of the unfolding conflict.
