Description

A river steamer cuts through the humid sweep of the Amazon, its deck crowded with colorful characters and whispered legends. Young Hal Keen, sharp‑eyed and impatient, finds himself tangled in a petty showdown with a suave Brazilian named Señor Goncalves over a missing magazine, while his seasoned uncle Denis watches with a mix of amusement and caution. The brief clash hints at deeper currents beneath the jungle’s calm surface, setting the tone for an adventure that promises more than a simple misunderstanding.

When the vessel docks at a remote tributary, the Keen family learns of an old map pointing toward a fabled gold vein buried deep in the forest. Hal’s impulsive nature drives him to pursue the rumor, but the jungle guards its secrets jealously, and locals speak of curses and vanished prospectors. Together with his pragmatic uncle, the curious Hal must navigate treacherous waterways, rival treasure hunters, and the lingering mystery of the missing magazine that may be the key to unlocking the mine’s location.
