Description

A newly minted doctor rides into the warm June woods of Kentucky, torn between a familiar, honeysuckle‑lined road and a shadowed beech path that promises something unplanned. The impulse that draws him off course is a bright red bird, and with it comes a nostalgic longing for the picnics of his childhood summers. Alex Shelby sees an abandoned log cabin perched on the edge of the forest and begins to imagine turning it into a lively summer retreat for the Van Allen family, hoping to fill the empty house with laughter and hospitality.

When he finally reaches the cabin, the scene is startlingly alive: trimmed vines, open windows, and freshly raked leaves suggest the place has just awakened from a long sleep. The air is scented with mint and pennyroyal, and a sense of quiet possibility hangs over the stone and timber. Listeners are invited to follow Alex as he steps into this restored frontier home, where the promise of summer adventure meets a hint of lingering mystery that beckons just beyond the porch.
