Description

Warwick Hall looms over the Potomac like a storybook castle, its marble terraces lined with proud peacocks and stained‑glass heraldry that whispers of English earls and Pilgrim ancestors. Madam Chartley has turned the ancestral manor into a first‑class boarding school, believing that a touch of medieval grandeur will teach young American girls respect for tradition and themselves. When a steamboat glides past at sunset, four spirited newcomers rush to the railing, their laughter mingling with the clatter of lace shoes and the rustle of silk as they glimpse the idyllic campus for the first time.

Among the pupils, a tall girl in blue—known affectionately as the Little Colonel—quickly becomes the heart of the group, her confidence matching the school’s bold ambition. As winter approaches, the girls anticipate a Christmas vacation that promises snow‑dusted terraces, secret pranks, and moments of unexpected kindness. Their budding friendships and the gentle rivalries of school life set the stage for a holiday season that feels both timeless and delightfully fresh.
