Description

Four spirited friends—tiny Fred, lanky John, quick‑thinking Grant, and good‑natured George—set sail aboard the brig Josephine, intent on seeing the world beyond New York’s harbor. Their personalities clash and click in equal measure, offering plenty of lively banter as they learn the ropes of a square‑rigged vessel and picture the distant ports of Buenos Aires. Even as passengers, they are eager to help the crew, turning each deck command into a chance to prove themselves.

Soon the boys find themselves swept into the rhythm of sea life, from the thrum of the windlass to the thrill of spotting the Statue of Liberty on the horizon. A sudden storm tests their resolve, and whispers of a hidden cavern begin to surface among the crew’s superstitions. With curiosity sparked and an unspoken promise of treasure, the Go Ahead Boys brace themselves for the adventures that lie ahead, setting the stage for a classic tale of friendship, daring, and the lure of the unknown.

About the author

RK

Ross Kay

Best known for fast-moving adventure stories for young readers, this early 20th-century writer filled his books with boats, treasure hunts, war reporting, and boys who plunge straight into action. His stories capture the brisk, energetic style that made juvenile series fiction so popular in the 1910s.
