Description

In a snow‑blanketed New England town, Tory Drew sets out alone on a gentle sleigh ride, the icy crystals swirling around her like tiny lanterns. The crisp winter air awakens a sense of freedom she hasn’t felt in months, and the quiet road leads her toward the mysterious House in the Woods. As the landscape glistens under the low winter sun, her thoughts turn to the Girl Scouts’ code of courage and camaraderie that guides her every step.

Her destination is the home of Memory Frean, a trusted member of the Eagle’s Wing troop and a source of steady counsel. Tory has been granted permission by her aunt to stay the night, hoping that their conversation by the fire will bring clarity to recent troubles. The promise of a warm hearth and a familiar voice offers a brief respite from the loneliness of her journey.

Beyond the comforting glow of the fire, Tory’s mind drifts to the friends she has left behind—Kara, the orphan she helped rescue, and Katherine, whose presence still lingers in the town. Their uncertain futures weigh on her, urging her to lean on the Scout values of loyalty and perseverance. As the snow continues to fall, she prepares for the first real test of her resolve, knowing that the bonds she shares with her fellow Scouts will shape the path ahead.
