Description

In a cramped, half‑clean courtyard tucked beneath the bustling Thames, a weather‑worn seaman stumbles into an unexpected partnership with a sharp‑tongued boy named Tommy Splint. Their first banter crackles with humor and a hint of street‑wise philosophy, revealing a world where poverty, wit, and survival mingle in equal measure. The pair quickly discover that the alley they occupy is a crossroads of forgotten souls, each clutching their own peculiar hopes.

As the sailor searches for a missing child, the boy offers a map of the hidden community—its “garden” of whispered trades, eccentric elders, and secret shortcuts that rise above the squalor. Together they navigate a maze of quirky characters, from the fearsome “chimney‑pot” Liz to other residents whose lives hover between danger and ingenuity. Their budding friendship promises a series of daring escapades that lift them from the garret’s gloom into a surprisingly vibrant underworld, all while the city’s river murmurs in the background.
