CHAPTER X. A DEAD PIRATE.
A moonlit night shrouds the Southern California coast in mist, and a ragged pirate vessel slips silently toward a hidden canyon. Its hulking commander, Barbados, and his fierce lieutenant, Sanchez, plot a daring raid on the unsuspecting settlement below, counting on the darkness and the sea’s whisper to cloak their intentions. Their crude crew, half‑clad and bristling with brutish ambition, prepares to disembark with promises of loot, wine, and stolen treasures.
Just as the pirates ready their assault, a lone figure watches from the cliffs—a masked rider whose legend precedes him. Swift, clever, and armed with a razor‑sharp sword, he moves with the grace of a shadow, intent on thwarting the invaders before they can strike. The clash of steel and wit promises a tense showdown, pitting the cunning of the outlaws against the daring of the vigilante who protects the coastal townsfolk.
The first act sets the stage for a classic battle of honor versus lawlessness, where every flash of moonlight could reveal a new twist in the fight for justice.
