Description

In a dim, makeshift Patriot hospital in Charleston, two spirited brothers—Dick and Tom Dare—tend to a badly wounded comrade while swapping stories of past battles. Their banter hides a deeper bond, and the news of their friend’s slow recovery lifts the heavy mood that has lingered since the recent clash with the British. As the city teeters between occupation and hope, the brothers glimpse the fragile thread that holds their cause together.

When a confidential commission arrives, Dick is ordered to ride westward toward Vincennes, a distant outpost on the Mississippi frontier, carrying a crucial message that must reach its destination unseen. He whispers the plan to Tom, tasking him with a parallel courier mission so that, should one fail, the other might succeed. The brothers set out with only a handful of supplies, a reluctant German ally, and the ever‑present danger of British patrols shadowing every step of their covert journey.
