Description

In a remote Norwegian valley, a humble fiddler named Ole Haugen becomes the source of a legend that reverberates through the mountains. His daughter Aslaug, while lacking his skill with the fiddle, carries music in every gesture, captivating the eyes of a returning farm heir whose family plans have been reshaped by tragedy. Defying the rigid social expectations of the day, the young man declares his love for Aslaug, and Ole proudly vows that his newly composed bridal march will echo at their wedding, a tune said to protect its listeners from hidden misfortune.

The story then follows the march as it settles into the life of the Tingvold farm, weaving itself into daily chores, celebrations, and the childhood lullabies of Aslaug’s own daughter. As the music endures, it shapes the hopes and romances of the next generation, hinting at the enduring power of a melody that began as a simple act of defiant love.
