Description

A brilliant but bedridden researcher awakens from a concussion with a sudden, uncanny insight that a simple laboratory accident might unlock a hidden world of microscopic marvels. His obsession with a mischievous black cat—whom he half‑jokingly calls a wizard—drives him to defy his physician’s orders and return to his lab, where a fleeting flash of light reveals a germ transforming into something entirely new. The experience leaves him both exhilarated and unnerved, convinced he has stumbled upon a phenomenon that could rewrite the rules of biology.

Compelled to verify his discovery, he journeys to Russia to meet the reclusive Professor Sarakoff, a man whose laboratory is as imposing as it is mysterious. In Sarakoff’s stark, smoke‑filled chamber, a massive tortoise prowls the floor while papers and sketches hint at far‑reaching theories. Together they stand on the brink of a scientific adventure that promises to blur the line between natural law and something far more enigmatic.
