SIELANKA An Idyll
SIELANKA. An Idyll.
ORSO.
In a deep forest clearing stands a humble log house roofed with straw, its walls wrapped in moss and surrounded by a riot of sunflowers, hollyhocks, poppies and sweet peas. A birch tree leans close, its leaves brushing the thatch while sparrows and doves fill the air with lively chatter. Beyond the garden, neat rows of carrots, beets and cabbage stretch toward a shimmering lake that mirrors the pine‑lined horizon, turning the whole scene into a living painting of light and mist.
The house is home to the forester Stephan and his sixteen‑year‑old daughter Kasya, a bright and curious girl who moves among the blooming fields and singing birds as if she were part of the landscape itself. Their quiet routine is marked by daily labors, tender moments by the well, and evenings spent listening to the soft rustle of trees reflected in the water. As the seasons turn, the idyll hints at subtle changes that will test Kasya’s gentle heart without disturbing the peace of her forest world.
