In the early light of a relentless desert dawn, three Arab riders push their weary steeds across a barren, wind‑blown plain. The leader, cloaked in a black burnous, hums a faint French melody that drifts over the sand, a strangely comforting counterpoint to the harsh surroundings. Their horses stumble over hidden sinkholes, their hooves clacking against stone, while the riders whisper prayers and jokes to keep spirits high. The silence of the wasteland is broken only by the soft sigh of the wind and the occasional creak of leather.
Bound by years of shared hardship, the trio knows the desert’s fickle moods—its sudden gusts, scorching heat, and deceptive calm—intimately. As the pale sunrise blossoms into a golden blaze, they pause to perform a hurried morning prayer, their leader’s horse nudging him affectionately. With the day’s first light revealing distant rock outcrops, they set their sights on the next ridge, aware that the journey ahead will test both their resolve and the fragile bonds that hold them together.
