In this lyrical historical tale we step into the early thirteenth‑century world of Don Rodrigue, newly wed to Chimène and still riding the fame of his heroic nickname, the Cid Campéador. Their castle at Bivar becomes a delicate stage where honor, ransom and the looming shadow of an unpaid debt intertwine. The captured nobleman Almanzor, a proud Arab of noble lineage, lives under a guarded freedom, his thoughts drifting between his distant harem, the promised tribute of slaves, and the danger his own sons may face on a far‑off expedition.
The story unfolds on a calm evening as the couple enjoys a fleeting peace on a terrace, while whispers from the countryside hint at an approaching disturbance. As the wind carries rumors across the road, the fragile balance between hospitality and looming conflict begins to tremble, drawing the characters into a tense waiting that will test loyalties, love, and the weight of past deeds.
