Description

In a sun‑baked frontier town, fifteen‑year‑old Pud Pringle spends his afternoons navigating the noisy aisles of the local grocery. He’s a wiry, tanned kid with a wide grin and a nose that always seems to point toward trouble, and his quick wit keeps him one step ahead of the shop’s curmudgeonly clerk, Eg Stiles. The banter between Pud, the jovial Mr. Eph Billings, and the sour‑tongued Eg crackles with the rhythm of a small‑town drama, while a mysterious counterfeit bill slips into Pud’s pocket, hinting at larger schemes beyond the market counter.

As Pud heads home, his thoughts swing between a budding rivalry with Eg and a vague promise of adventure that simmers beneath the everyday chores. The story balances humor and a hint of danger, painting a vivid portrait of a boy on the brink of discovering his own brand of piracy—though not the kind that sails seas. Listeners are invited into a world where a simple purchase can open the door to secret plots, friendships tested, and a youthful yearning for something bigger than the dusty streets of his hometown.
