Description

At the bustling Pebbly Pit ranch house, a close‑knit group gathers around a supper table, still buzzing from a long day on the trail to Oak Creek. Among them, Polly Brewster and her best friend Eleanor Maynard trade witty banter while plotting the next move in a secretive gold‑claim venture. Their father, Sam Brewster, warns of claim‑jumpers and the need for a coded telegram, setting the tone for a daring but careful expedition.

The party debates whether to arm themselves or rely on clever guides like Rattle‑Snake Mike, whose reputation as a trail master promises both safety and humor. Even the schoolteacher Anne Stewart, ever pragmatic, insists the upcoming picnic at Bear Forks must go on, adding a lighthearted counterpoint to the looming danger. As plans solidify, listeners are drawn into the mix of youthful optimism, rustic camaraderie, and the rugged promise of the Colorado wilderness.
