Description

In a quiet valley beside the still waters of Tarvaslammi, two modest cottages cling to the edge of a pine‑shrouded forest. The lives of their inhabitants—Lassi the skilled hunter, his daughters, and the neighboring family of Sanna and his son Hiski—unfold in a rhythm dictated by seasons, hard work, and the occasional crack of a rifle on a frosty morning. At the heart of this world is Annukka, a young woman raised by her father after her mother’s early death, whose devotion to cleanliness, song, and the simple pleasures of rural life earns her the nickname “the happy bird” among friends.

Yet the peace of the valley is not without its strains. Annukka’s aunt Kaisa, a strict overseer from the nearby village, constantly rebukes her niece’s cheerfulness, while the close‑knit community balances affection with the ever‑present demands of survival. Listeners are invited to step into this pastoral tableau, feeling the brisk air, hearing the wind through the birches, and sensing the tender bonds that tie these characters to their land and each other.
