Description

Detective Trim arrives in the dusty boom‑town of Kimberley with a reputation for daring, determined to capture the slippery steeple‑climber Jemmy Miller. Having already tangled with Miller during a daring diamond‑theft investigation, Trim believes he can finally bring the criminal to justice, even if it means chasing him into the untamed African hinterland. The story opens with Trim’s confident plan clashing against a skeptical local police chief, who doubts the young American’s ability to outwit the seasoned outlaws of the continent.

The chief warns Trim that Miller is only the tip of a far deeper, long‑standing problem that has haunted the settlement for a decade, hinting at a secret that even the seasoned officers have failed to solve. Undeterred, Trim sees the challenge as a chance to prove his skill and win respect among his colonial counterparts. As the two men trade barbs and strategies, the stage is set for a high‑stakes pursuit through dangerous wilderness, where every clue could bring Trim closer to the elusive thief—or into a trap far more perilous than he imagined.
