A young man born into a distinguished Ottoman family, steeped in the traditions of gold‑smithing, court service and religious scholarship, sets out to satisfy an insatiable curiosity about the world beyond his native Istanbul. Trained as a muezzin and briefly a palace page, he soon discovers that his true calling lies on the road, where he can witness firsthand the customs, architecture, and daily life of distant lands.
His travelogue carries listeners from the bustling markets of Constantinople to the grand courts of Europe, the rugged terrains of Persia, and the vibrant cities of Africa. With a keen eye for detail, he records the history, politics, and social practices he encounters, blending personal anecdotes with thoughtful commentary. The narrative offers a rare 17th‑century perspective that feels both scholarly and intimate, inviting listeners to explore a world seen through the eyes of an inquisitive, well‑educated traveler.
