Description

In a damp, fish‑scented stairwell of a fifteenth‑century house overlooking Saint‑Gervais’s cobbled alleys, the weary correspondent Henry steps into the early September light of Geneva. Half‑Italian and writing for a tiny revolutionary paper, he wears a slouched hat, a cracked monocle and a coat with missing buttons, his demeanor a mix of bitterness and restless curiosity. The city thrums with the impending opening of a League of Nations session, its grand hotels filling with diplomats and rival reporters.

Yet beneath the polished diplomatic veneer, a string of odd disappearances and cryptic notes begins to surface, catching Henry’s reluctant attention. He discovers a locked ledger in a dim café, overhears a hushed exchange about a secret meeting, and witnesses an abrupt blackout that leaves several delegates stranded in darkness. Drawn by professional duty and a personal hunger for redemption, he follows the faint trail, aware that each clue may pull him deeper into a tangled web of intrigue. The stage is set for a puzzle that could upend more than just the Assembly’s decorum.
