Description

Mildred awakens to a dawn painted in crimson and gold, the fresh mountain air stirring both her senses and her thoughts. As she gazes over rolling hills and mist‑clad valleys, a weighty choice looms—one that could shape the course of her whole life. Uncertain yet resolute, she turns to prayer and the quiet counsel of a close friend, hoping divine wisdom will point the way.

Just then, Charlie, a young man from the neighboring inn, bursts onto the scene, his face marked by urgent grief. He confides that his sister lies gravely ill, and in his desperation he seeks Mildred’s comfort and perhaps more. Their brief encounter crackles with tenderness and tension, as Mildred wrestles between compassion, personal longing, and the higher call she feels within.
