Description

A midnight express thunders across the wintry plains of Germany and France, its dim lamps flickering like watchful eyes over a carriage full of weary travelers. The train is a moving mosaic of stoic Teutons, hard‑headed Scandinavians and restless Slavs, each bound for Paris by necessity rather than desire. In the cramped sleeping‑car, the hush is broken only by the occasional murmur of card games and the soft sigh of coats settled on seats, creating a backdrop of quiet suspense.

Among the passengers sits a solitary boy, barely beyond childhood, his smooth face half‑hidden beneath a rough overcoat. One hand cradles a secret tucked deep in his pocket, the other rests protectively over his head as he drifts into a vivid dream of frost‑bitten St. Petersburg—its cold courtyards, frozen rivers and distant palace towers. The vision hints at a past that haunts him and a purpose that propels him forward, leaving listeners to wonder what he carries and where his journey will ultimately lead.
