Description

Martin Rattler is a restless boy whose imagination is sparked by tales of far‑off lands. When his family secures a posting in the bustling port of Belém, he eagerly follows the river deep into the Amazon, eager to test his courage against the unknown. The opening of his journey finds him thrust among towering trees, humming insects, and the vibrant chatter of river traders, where he quickly learns that the jungle is both beautiful and unforgiving.

In the first part of the story, Martin befriends a seasoned guide and a mischievous capuchin who become his unlikely companions. Together they face sudden storms, navigate treacherous rapids, and encounter indigenous villages that teach him respect for the forest’s hidden rules. As danger looms in the form of a prowling jaguar and rival prospectors, Martin’s quick wit and growing bravery are put to the test, hinting at the larger adventure that lies ahead.
