Description

Paris in November 1838 is shrouded in cold mist and freshly fallen snow, its streets alive with the clatter of horse‑drawn carriages and bustling pedestrians. The city is still reeling from the strange death of Judge Remy d’Arx, a mystery that has set gossipers abuzz while the capital presses on with its own ambitions. Amid the reconstruction of the Rambuteau thoroughfare, a curious spectacle rises—a massive wooden pavilion that will become the Grand Théâtre Universel et National, overseen by the legendary lion‑tamer Madame Samayoux.

Inside the half‑finished hall, whispers of a new act build excitement, especially among a handful of street‑wise children who trade their marbles for warmth and stories. They speak of a lion that roared from its crate the night before, a sign that something extraordinary is about to unfold. As the doors remain closed to the public, a determined figure known as Maman Léo prepares to step through the canvas veil, hinting at the daring adventures that await in the shadows of the newly erected stage.
