Description

In the hushed stone walls of Saint‑Clair Abbey, young Adeline wrestles with unsettling dreams that cling to her waking thoughts. Over a strained luncheon, she scans the gathering for any sign of the enigmatic Theodore, whose sudden departure haunts her hopes. The arrival of the local marquis and his retinue only deepens her sense of isolation as polite conversation slides past her unanswered longing.

When the evening sky roils with thunder, Adeline’s anxiety sharpens, the storm echoing the turmoil within her chest. She retreats to her chambers, where tears flow freely, and she confronts the unsettling possibility that Theodore’s absence may hide a darker purpose. As the night deepens, the abbey’s corridors grow restless, hinting that the calm before the storm may soon give way to revelations that could reshape her fate.

Madame La Motte, ever the vigilant hostess, hovers between propriety and concern, urging Adeline to accept a guest bed despite the growing tempest. The looming clouds press against the abbey’s ancient windows, casting flickering shadows that seem to whisper secrets of the past. In this charged silence, Adeline senses that the decisions she makes tonight could echo far beyond the stone corridors.
