Description

Jack North is a wiry, quick‑thinking teen from a modest New England town, always ready to sprint for the chance that will lift his family out of hardship. When a job at a bustling engine shop opens, he bolts through crowded streets, outwitting a rival and proving that perseverance is his greatest strength. The frantic dash to the workshop sets the tone for a character who refuses to give up, even when the odds seem stacked against him.

His determination soon catches the eye of a shrewd foreman who, impressed by Jack’s grit, offers him a position that becomes a gateway to a far‑flung adventure. A mysterious offer to join an expedition to South America arrives, promising untold riches hidden on a remote island. Jack finds himself aboard a rickety vessel, heading toward dense jungles, volcanic lakes, and perilous cliffs, where his courage and wits will be tested in ways he never imagined.

Roy Rockwood

Behind this name was a whole publishing machine: a house pseudonym used for fast-moving boys' adventure stories packed with lost worlds, inventions, and jungle drama. The books helped shape early 20th-century series fiction, especially for young readers who loved cliffhangers and big imagination.
