Description

Janice Day returns to her sleepy lakeside hometown just as the town awakens to a wave of change. The quiet streets of Polktown are buzzing with new visitors, a bustling inn, and the promise of a railroad that could link the community to the wider world. Janice, a bright and compassionate young woman, finds herself caught between the familiar comforts of her family and the unsettling sight of a drunken stranger disrupting the peace.

As she watches a group of mischievous boys chase the trouble‑maker, Janice’s sense of duty and her love for the town surface. She worries about the growing influence of the new bar and what it might mean for the townsfolk she cares for. The scene sets the stage for Janice’s quiet resolve to protect the values she holds dear while navigating the excitement and challenges of a town on the brink of transformation.
