Description

The story opens in a Paris buzzing with the heady mix of fresh clove, damp sawdust and the ever‑present scent of revolutionary fervor. We meet Gonzze de Rougeville, a daring knight whose loyalties swing between the shattered monarchy and the rising Republic, and his circle of friends and foes who maneuver through secret clubs, whispered conspiracies and the looming threat of the guillotine.

Through vivid scenes of bustling taverns, cramped prisons and clandestine meetings, Dumas weaves a tapestry of personal ambition and political intrigue. The narrative balances moments of daring heroism with the everyday anxieties of a city on the brink, drawing listeners into a world where love, betrayal and destiny collide amid the clamor of marching soldiers and frantic crowds.

In the first act, de Rougeville navigates a perilous game of information, trying to protect a fragile alliance while the streets outside grow ever more turbulent. The audiobook captures the pulse of a Paris that is both intoxicating and terrifying, inviting you to step inside the swirling vortex of the French Revolution.
