Description

On the rugged northern coast, a twelve‑year‑old boy named Wally lives beneath a tall brick lighthouse, his world built of tide‑washed shells, shark teeth and handmade ship models. He spends his days trading stories with the nearby gentleman’s daughter, Elsie, and listening to the seasoned lifesavers who train him in oars, compass work and the rhythm of the sea. Though his friends are few, the lighthouse and its crew become his informal school, teaching him the responsibilities that come with keeping the beacon shining.

One fierce October night a sudden gale silences the lamp, the keeper knocked unconscious by a bewildered bird, and the dark waves threaten the vessels that depend on its glow. Awakening to the empty beam, Wally races up the spiral stairs, his heart pounding as he grasps the lantern, pumps oil, and struggles to reignite the crystal’s flash before disaster strikes. The story follows his determination and the tension of that crucial moment, offering a vivid glimpse into bravery forged on a storm‑tossed shore.
