Description

At Merrit Academy a quiet, dreamy boy stands apart from his boisterous classmates. Tall, blue‑eyed and more fond of verses, birds and fairy tales than sport or debate, he is soon nicknamed “Lady Harriet” for his gentle manners and delicate tastes. His solitary life with a kindly grandmother only deepens the contrast between his tender world and the rambunctious boys who dominate the schoolyard.

When the mischievous trio of Charley, Ned and Hen start plotting an elaborate April‑Fool’s ruse, Lady Harriet becomes their unwitting target. They whisper plans of costumes, masks and mock bandits, each idea more outlandish than the last, while the shy boy’s only defense is the quiet kindness of a friend who once took him fishing. As the prank gears up, the tension between innocence and cruelty hints at a day that could change the rhythm of his school life forever.
