Description

The story opens on a bright June morning in 1927, when a surprising conflict erupts between England and the small South American nation of Venezuela. A disputed island claimed by the British Crown ignites a naval showdown, dragging the United States into the fray as Congress rallies under the Monroe Doctrine. Amid cramped docks, storm‑tossed fleets, and fever‑ridden soldiers, the stage is set for a tense clash of empires.

Into this turmoil steps Harry Borden, a charismatic inventor from the tiny coastal hamlet of Tickle River. Backed by local investors, he has built a mysterious machine that promises to turn the tide of war, and he races to Washington to plead his case before the Secretary of War. As bureaucratic hesitation meets his unstoppable confidence, listeners are drawn into a world of daring ambition, political intrigue, and the restless spirit of early‑twentieth‑century innovation.
