Description

Set against the mist‑laden shores of the Black Sea in 1836, a massive Russian fleet looms over the modest town of Szucsuk‑Kaleh, bringing with it fifteen thousand soldiers, artillery, and supplies for a winter campaign. The story follows the young Colonel Riumin, tasked with a delicate and uneasy mission: leading a cavalry of Cossack horsemen to seize a white‑walled building that houses local girls destined for the slave market. As the troops disembark and the river’s shallow currents pull them toward their objective, the narrative paints a vivid picture of military logistics, cultural tensions, and the uneasy moral calculations of an empire on the move.

Through Riumin’s eyes we glimpse a world where ambition collides with tradition, and where the clamor of cannons is matched by whispered fears of enchantment and exploitation. The opening invites listeners into a richly detailed tableau of 19th‑century geopolitics, offering both the stark realities of conquest and the subtle, human stories that unfold in its shadows.
