A lanky veteran of the Great War drifts through a bustling city, his post‑war days a blur of aimless streets and lingering melancholy. One evening, a flash of electric light reveals a young woman on a crowded sidewalk, her face a blend of surprise, fear and defiance that jolts him out of his routine. The brief encounter ignites a surge of purpose within him, a reminder of the fierce resolve that once sent him overseas.
Compelled by that sudden spark, he darts into the nearby newspaper office, where the editor greets him with a knowing smile. The paper’s latest dispatch speaks of the untamed Yukon, a land of towering ranges and hidden fortunes, and the promise of a fresh start. With his old military discipline resurfacing, he decides to chase the mystery of the girl and the lure of the North, stepping onto a trail where danger and destiny intertwine.
