Description

Myron Warrenton Foster steps off a rattling cab in the quiet town of Warne, a seventeen‑year‑old whose polished manners and well‑kept appearance immediately set him apart from the locals. The newcomer’s first sweep of the streets—tidy homes behind lilac hedges, an old graveyard shaded by towering elms, and the modest school grounds framed by linden trees—leaves him both impressed and slightly aloof. He’s accustomed to automobiles and comforts, yet the town’s slower rhythm invites him to observe more closely than he ever has at home.

At the boarding house, Sohmer Hall, Myron encounters the other students and faculty, who view his confidence with a mix of curiosity and quiet skepticism. As he navigates the social hierarchy of Parkinson School, the contrast between his affluent background and the town’s humble expectations hints at a summer of subtle challenges and unexpected friendships. The stage is set for a season of self‑discovery amid the gentle hum of small‑town life.
