FAITHFULLY YOURS BY LOU TABAKOW
A desperate fugitive stumbles through the choking thicket of the Okefenokee, his body torn by thorns and pursued by snarling bloodhounds. The swamp’s oppressive darkness amplifies every breath, while distant train whistles remind him that the law is tightening its net along the rail lines. With each step he faces a stark choice: surrender to a brutal hunt or plunge into the murky water that might hide his escape.
Meanwhile, far beyond the tangled reeds, a powerful interstellar agency grapples with a different kind of pursuit. Their top biophysicist reports that the escaped criminal has vanished into a vessel capable of ultra‑light speeds, eluding even the most sophisticated ethero‑radar. The Director’s thin patience gives way to a cold calculation, hinting at an extreme order that could change the chase forever.
