In the shattered aftermath of Earth's devastation, a fragile human colony clings to survival beneath the glittering domes of Venus. Craig Verrier, a lean and fiercely determined survivor, wrestles with a rash promise made in the heat of anger—a vow to venture back to the ruined world of his ancestors in search of a legendary ruby known as the Fire of Skanderbek. The alien landscape, protected by massive steel girders and artificial twilight, offers both refuge and a reminder of the long‑lost home.
Linda, a striking Venussian with rare freckles and an intoxicating presence, tempts Craig to abandon his quest. Her pleading voice and lingering kiss awaken his lingering attachment to the people and gardens that have become his life. Yet the lure of the ruby and the pull of a destiny tied to the desolate Earth keep him torn between love and duty, setting the stage for a perilous journey that could reshape the fragile balance between the two worlds.
