A bustling household in Madrid sets the stage for a tangled web of courtship and mistaken intentions. Don Tello, an aging patriarch, eagerly anticipates the arrival of his Burgos cousins, hoping to secure advantageous marriages for his daughters, Inés and Leonor. Meanwhile, the roguish Don Juan arrives with his own designs, only to find his hopes suddenly undercut by the very arrangements he feared.
As the family’s plans unfold, sharp wit and rapid dialogue reveal the characters’ hidden agendas, from jealous lovers to scheming servants. In the midst of promises and accusations, love and duty clash, leaving each participant to question loyalty, honor, and the true meaning of marriage. The play’s lively humor and spirited exchanges promise an entertaining glimpse into the chaos of 17th‑century Spanish society.
