Description

Dorothy Dale boards a train bound for Glenwood School with her lively companion Tavia, both buzzing with the mix of excitement and nervous anticipation that comes with a new term. As they settle into their seats, a fashionable newcomer—Jean Faval—slides into a vacant spot, instantly catching Dorothy’s eye and setting the stage for a rivalry that promises plenty of mischief and competition. The girls trade witty banter, hinting at secret ambitions, while the train’s rhythmic clatter carries whispers of upcoming challenges, from schoolyard contests to unexpected adventures on the water.

Soon after arrival, Dorothy finds herself drawn into a whirlwind of school life, where friendships are tested, rivalries sharpen, and everyday moments—like sharing lunches and solving minor mysteries—take on larger significance. With her steadfast resolve and Tavia’s spirited encouragement, Dorothy begins to navigate the delicate balance between staying true to herself and confronting the spirited competition that Jean brings, all while the promise of a memorable school year looms on the horizon.
