Description

Dick Hamilton is the charismatic heir to a fortune, but he prefers the rush of a motor‑boat to the confines of a military academy. In the opening chapter he and his fellow cadets—Paul and Innis—spend an idle afternoon cruising the Kentfield River, teasing each other about uniforms, hairstyles, and the girls waiting on the dock. Their banter reveals a tight‑knit friendship, a hint of rivalry, and a light‑hearted glimpse into the social life of a small town perched on the water.

When three local girls step onto the dock, the boys' playful swagger turns into a nervous dance of courtship, setting the stage for romance and mischief. As Dick maneuvers his new craft, the story hints at larger ambitions beyond the river—dreams of soaring above the clouds that promise to test his courage, resources, and the bonds of his friendships.
