Description

In the bright Primary Room a painted river runs across the wall, each of its fourteen fish representing a new student. Little Francie dreams of catching his own fish and, when the ash‑man arrives with a shy Italian boy named Rafael, the eager child offers his too‑large brown suit so the newcomer can join the Sunday‑school class. The ceremony of pinning a fish to the river and a red tag to Francie's blouse turns into a joyful celebration of friendship and community.

The story then follows Alice, a curious girl who wants to prove she can manage a morning on her own. After asking her mother for scissors and bright paper, she fills her little table with odd dolls and multi‑legged horses, delighting in the creative chaos she creates. When the mess grows, a gentle inner voice prompts her to tidy up and help, reminding her that independence also means caring for others.
